American Century Investments Selects Accordent for Corporate Webcasting Platform
Investment Firm Uses Online Visual Communications to Share Information, Foster Esprit de Corps among Disparate Employees across the U.S. and Europe
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., – Sept. 9, 2009 – Accordent Technologies today announced its selection by American Century Investments to provide a rich media webcasting platform that enables the firm to make a personal and engaging connection with employees worldwide by bringing video-based communications right to their desktop computers.
American Century Investments uses the Accordent system to support a variety of corporate communications programs, including quarterly all-hands “Town Hall” meetings as well as monthly management meetings. In the case of the “Town Hall” meetings, employees are now able to watch the webcasts live and submit questions to executives, which are answered during the events.
Recently, American Century used the Accordent webcasting system for a special meeting highlighting the company’s sponsorship of the 20th annual American Century Championship, a charity tournament benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The webcast modulated between live remarks and a tournament highlight video featuring an NBC network interview with American Century founder Jim Stowers Jr. about how the firm’s profits support medical research that could lead to the prevention and treatment of gene-based diseases including cancer. The multi-source webcast enabled employees to experience the goodwill of being a part of the event and the organization’s charitable commitments.
“As we expand globally it’s imperative that we have a high-quality, reliable webcasting system in place to maintain robust communications across our various sites,” said Patrick Robbins, Information Technology Advisor, American Century Investments. “The Accordent solution provides an ease of management and predictability that allows us to deliver a significantly better experience for our organization. Our employees really enjoy being able to control their viewing experience, such as swapping video and slides windows during the presentations, as well as being able to watch the webcasts from their desks live and on-demand,” Robbins said.
The Accordent rich media communications platform is provided to American Century via SKC Communication Products Inc., an Accordent Certified Partner based in Shawnee Mission, KS.
The Accordent Rich Media Communications Suite is the only automated, end-to-end infrastructure for creating, distributing, managing and measuring the effectiveness of multimedia presentation assets. The company’s rich media creation products include its flagship Accordent PresenterPRO™, a live and on-demand webcasting solution with interactive features, such as polling, surveys and moderated Q&A; the Accordent Capture Station™, an easy-to-use, room-based appliance that enables anyone to webcast and record high-value presentations that take place every day in the world's meeting rooms, classrooms and boardrooms; and Accordent Engage™, a behind-the-firewall, enhanced audio webcasting system that enables multimedia webcasting from the desktop. The company’s media management platform is the Accordent Media Management System, the first centralized online communications management infrastructure for ingesting, organizing, searching, publishing and securing multi-level access to Accordent presentations and other multimedia communications - including archived web- and video-conferences.
