Starting in 2003, the International Programs of the College
of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University
began their involvement with the African Center for Crop Improvement in Peter Maarsburg,
South Africa, located 45 minutes outside of Durban. The
center, sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation, teaches accepts ten PHD candidates per year
from Sub-Saharan third world nations including Uganda,
Mali, Kenya, and Tanzania.
